When I got high blood pressure, the only way they could get it to go down was to induce me.

David Kao

High blood pressure during pregnancy can lead to preeclampsia. It usually occurs after 20 weeks. I am 30 weeks along and had high blood pressure at my last visit so I am being monitored closely.
It progresses rapidly so you need to be careful.
Other symptoms are protein in your urine, excessive swelling in your hands and face, sudden weight gain, headaches that do not go away, and changes in vision. If you experience any of these symptoms call your Doctor right away. Preeclampsia is not something to ignore. The only "cure" is delivering your baby.
Drink lots of water, cut soda, watch your salt intake, make sure you are getting enough protein and take calcium/magnesium supplements.

Raymond Ferreira

Well if it's still high they'll then check your urine for protien, probably have you do a 24 hour urine sample which totally *****. You have to *** in a bucket for 24 hours and if you skip it once, you have to start all over again and keep the bucket in the fridge.... They may do a biophysical ultrasound for baby to make sure baby is doing fine, they may even put you on medication. When I was 32 weeks with my first baby I had high blood pressure it was 155/102 and they had me stay in the hospital for two days. If it didn't go down they would have had to induced, but luckily it went down. I had to be on strict bedrest after thay until delivery. But since you are considered term she will most likely want to discuss induction. Either way, don't be nervous, whatever they say or want to do is for the health of you and baby. Don't worry about it. They'll take care of you.
