Since you have anxiety, why not take a betablocker type medication like Atenenol or Inderal? It will slow down your heart rate a bit, lower your blood pressure and help a lot with anxiety attacks. These medication can make you feel quite cold in winter so dress warmly. If you have asthma, you can’t take them. If you have a family history of high blood pressure, I would take medication for sure and lower your salt intake.

High blood pressure can indeed be bad for your heart and your kidneys and your eyes and your brain and just about everything else. Your doctor may elect to treat your condition with medication or he may elect for a lifestyle change. In any event it is important that you follow your doctor’s orders, your future is at stake here.

Yes of course it can, but being worried about it will only make it worse so be proactive. Do something about lowering it by meditating or exercising to reduce your anxiety levels.
